"Så är Kristus medlare för ett nytt förbund, på det att de som voro kallade skulle få det utlovade eviga arvet, därigenom att en led döden till förlossning ifrån överträdelserna under det förra förbundet. Ty där ett testamente finnes, där måste det styrkas att den som har gjort testamentet är död. Först genom döden bliver ju ett testamente giltigt, varemot det icke äger gällande kraft, så länge den som har gjort det ännu lever."
"And for this reason He is the Mediator of the new covenant, by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, that those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance. For where there is a testament, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. For a testament is in force after men are dead, since it has no power at all while the testator lives."

Guds arvingar

"Försoningen och frälsningen med dess rikedomar den illustreras ju i Bibeln på mångahanda sätt. Och Gud är väldigt vis, Han har använt sig av bildspråk i långa stycken för att vi ska kunna greppa om de andliga verkligheterna. Och här möter oss en ny bild bland de många och det är Jesu försoningsverk och välsignelsen av det framställt under bilden av ett testamente. Och det underbara är att till det testamentet så är du och jag arvingar. Tack och lov och pris!
Det står i skriften att Gud har insatt Kristus till arvinge av allt. Det är väldigt storslaget och det har ett sådant innehåll att vi inte riktigt kan fatta det. Men nu står det också i skriften att vi är Guds arvingar och Kristi medarvingar om vi eljest lida med honom står det. Och det innebär att du och jag har på ett märkligt sätt blivit delaktiga i de rikedomar som egentligen var Kristi tillhörigheter alltsammans."
"The riches of the atonement and salvation is illustrated in the Bible in many different ways. And by his wisdom, God has in many cases used analogies in order for us to understand the spiritual realities. And in this case we are presented with another analogy, namely the one where the atonement and salvation is pictured as a testament. And the wonderful thing is that we are heirs to that testament. Praise God!
Scripture says that God has appointed Christ heir of all things and the greatness and magnitude of this is beyond our comprehension. But scripture also says that we are heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him. And this means that you and I have, in a most peculiar kind of way, become partakers in the riches that actually were the belongings av Christ - all of it."
